Yoga Clothes – choose with care

In choosing the perfect yoga clothes, a prime requirement is that they allow you to move, and don’t restrict your movement or breathing.

The best yoga clothes are those that allow you to freely move and prevent instances of distraction and disturbance when you are having your practice. They need to feel good on your skin so that you will be free from irritation.

During a heavy practice, it is expected that you will sweat, so wear absorbent clothing which breathes. Cotton is a great choice.

In practicing yoga, there is no requirement in choosing your clothes. If you want to show off some skin, it’s up to you.

Here are the common things you need when looking for in yoga clothing.

Yoga Tops – first thing you should consider in choosing a yoga top is that it should not fall in your face. Tops are designed to let you move freely and not be distracted when doing the exercise. If you are going to wear tee shirts, it should not be that long and should not cover the lower part of your body.

This is important in checking the alignment of your lower body because you can see whether your knees and ankles are aligned properly. Most women wear sports bras so that in doing some movements, they are sure that it holds them securely and prevent chances of falling out when stretching.

Yoga Pants – The length of the pants is one of the things to consider. Some pants are long that it reaches your ankles. If this is not comfortable to you, you should wear pants that are below your knees. This allows you to move freely.

Yoga Shorts – this is a good choice if you are practicing hot yoga or known as the Bikram Yoga. This type of yoga is done in a room at a high temperature. Wearing shorts will let go of the heat inside your body.

You don’t need any special clothing for yoga, however if yoga is to be part of your life, you’ll want to invest in a yoga wardrobe which you enjoy. When you look good, you’ll be motivated to do your yoga.

Here are five tips on choosing yoga clothing you’ll love.

Choose:

1. Clothing which stretches with you

You can choose form-fitting clothing, or looser clothing. If you’re fit, and you enjoy showing off your shape, then form-fitting clothing is for you. However, make sure that your clothing isn’t too tight: you should be able to breathe easily, and move without strain.

If you’re a little overweight, choose loose clothing. You can choose tops and pants which are loose enough to hide a little of your shape, while still looking great. Don’t buy clothing which is too loose and baggy: it can be a distraction when you’re in your poses.

2. Clothing which is comfortable and moisture-absorbent

Natural fibers like silk, cotton, linen and wool are best, because they’re comfortable and moisture absorbent: synthetic fibers can lead to discomfort, especially if the studio is hot.

Check the material: some fiber-mixes are excellent, because you get the benefit of natural fibers, as well as the comfort of stretch.

3. Materials which are easy to care for

Yoga clothing needs to be wash and wear – check the labels, to ensure that your clothing washes well.

4. Yoga clothing which is easy to accessorize: casual comfort

Consider yoga clothing which you can wear to and from the studio: changing completely when you go for your yoga lesson isn’t necessary if you buy tops and yoga pants which look good as casual wear.

5. Colors which you enjoy

Colors you enjoy make a difference to your mood. Choose colorful tops and pants.

Of course, you don’t need any special clothes to do yoga. If you’re going to class however, you might want to get some tops and pants which look good and feel great.

Yoga has become a popular type of workout today, which means that it is fairly easy to find a class in almost any community that will allow you to strut your asanas in style. However, it is difficult to feel good about how you look during a workout when you are wearing your husband’s old sweatshirt from college and leggings that are wearing thin at the knees. The good news is that there are plenty of options in yoga wear today that will allow you to look good and feel good as you are working your way through your yoga routine. But before you run right out to purchase a wardrobe of leotards in all of your favorite colors, there are some factors to consider in what works the best in yoga wear.

Allow for Maximum Movement in your top and pants

While some yoga positions are fairly simple, others will require plenty of freedom of movement to perform. Since the goal of yoga positions is to maximize blood circulation throughout the body, you will do a lot of damage to your workout benefits if you wear clothing that binds or pinches the areas that you are trying to loosen. This is why it is so important to purchase yoga wear that will give you plenty of room and stretch to move freely. Look for pants that have spandex, and select drawstring waists that will continue to fit even as your weight begins to fluctuate. Sports bras are recommended for women, and leotards or t-shirts can both work well, depending on your preference.

When you go shopping for your yoga wear, make sure that you try every garment on and even try some positions in the clothing before you purchase them. This will let you know that the yoga wear fits properly, and will not cut off any of that circulation that you will be working so hard to increase. While yoga pants are always a popular choice, selecting a pair of shorts or two will allow you to keep an eye on the alignment of your knees, ankles and feet during positions as well. On the flip side, a well-fitting pair of yoga pants will take you from the mat to the grocery store in style, giving you a bit more versatility in your yoga wear.

Cotton and natural fibers are best for yoga

As with any type of workout clothing, yoga wear should breathe and absorb moisture effectively. This means that you should opt for cotton fabrics as often as possible, even going for organic cotton when you can. This is the best fabric for moisture absorption. If you go for the spandex stretch, make sure that you select a fabric that will breathe and allow you to perspire without getting sticky during your workout. While yoga is generally done barefoot, some instructors will allow for socks or even shoes to be worn. You can check with your instructor before purchasing this type of yoga wear. If you get the green light to bring your socks, make sure that you get a pair that will keep your feet from perspiring too much as well.

Yoga is a wonderful way to get fit and healthy, and there are plenty of yoga classes to choose from. If you decide to give this exercise a try, outfit yourself in the best yoga wear that you can afford. Your body will thank you, and you will enjoy your workout even more when you look and feel your best.
