Yoga for your spirit: chakra power for health

Yoga helps you to tune up your chakras, increasing your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. You don’t have to do anything special to achieve this, yoga does it for you.
What are your chakras?
Just like your brain, your body hums with electricity, especially in areas where major bundles of nerves interact. These nerve interchanges are called plexuses, and oddly enough these plexuses are located at similar body areas that the ancient yoga gurus assigned to your chakras.
Chakra means “wheel” and chakras are considered to be a nexus of metaphysical and/or biophysical energy of the human body. You can visualize your chakras as spinning wheels of colored light.
Many ancient knowledge systems describe the chakras. Modern medicine is just starting to pay attention to them too.
As you do your yoga asanas, yoga tunes up your chakras, and this is good for you. Energy is released, as are blockages, and these releases can have profound effects not only on your body, but on your mind and spirit as well.
Over time, as you continue to practice your yoga, you will become more aware of your chakras, and you’ll be able to sense them.
