Yoga Poses For Health, Flexibility And Serenity
April 25th, 2007    Subscribe To Our FeedMillions of people practice the physiological part of the Hindu religion that started thousands of years ago. These people often go to sessions guided by a qualified instructor and practice yoga poses or asanas.
These yoga poses are a series of positions that have been practiced by Hindus for so many years. There is a huge business in providing tapes and television programs that also show the proper poses for people in their homes. These positions have some interesting names such as dog and cobra that bring flexibility to the participants as well as a feeling of serenity. Beginners start with a limited number of yoga poses and increase the number and complexity of the poses as they progress.
The poses have been practiced for centuries and are supposed to bring a great sense of consciousness and ease to those who perform the poses. Beginners are supposed to start slowly and refrain from stretching too much. Those people who follow these directions rarely injure their bodies in the process. Yoga poses are not intended to put a strain on the muscular or skeletal system. The wonderful poses are not intended to bring miracles overnight so those who benefit most from yoga poses are those who stick with the practice over a long period of time.
Fundamental Yoga Poses Are A Great Starting Point
Many pictures of yoga poses include those with people standing on their heads or twisted into difficult positions. The fantastic poses are not all complex or difficult, and a good instructor will make sure that the students do not do any yoga poses that are too difficult. One of the yoga poses that is often in pictures is a cross legged position, and this is a good place to start. Those that cannot do this yoga pose completely should start with an alternative position until they can do the complete pose.
Each of the yoga poses has a purpose which an instructor will probably explain as he or she proceeds with each lesson. Some of the great poses are meant to stretch the spine to keep the body flexible. There are incredible pictures with octogenarians in difficult positions that stretch their spines to keep them in good health. Other poses are meant to improve the posture and balance. Some poses are designed to relax the mind for serenity.
Each of the poses has some alternatives which should obtain the desired results.
